Following the cleanup of Divisoria, Liwasang Bonifacio and other parts of Manila, Mayor Isko Moreno has also ordered the cleanup of the Lagusnilad Underpass by removing all stalls operating in the underground walkway.
Photos taken by ABS-CBN News showed Manila City Hall workers evicting vendors and removing stalls from the underpass that connects city hall and Intramuros.
An earlier news report said many of the Lagusnilad Underpass vendors do not have a permit and do not pay taxes to city hall.
Moreno earlier said the city government will now organize street vendors, who are often blamed for garbage and traffic congestion in the capital.
The mayor said private organizers demand P350 a day from vendors, higher than the P20 that they should give to the city government.
