Pinamimigay na lang ang Kamatis, Mangga!: Aquino slams poor state of agriculture under Duterte

Former President Benigno Aquino III lamented the sorry state of agriculture under the Duterte administration.

In an interview with Eagle News, Aquino said oversupply of agricultural products appear to be a perennial problem since President Rodrigo Duterte assumed office in 2016.

“Nagulat ako noong nangyari yung kamakailan yung may pagtatapon ng kamatis. Tapos may nagrereklamo sa sibuyas. Meron naman ata ngayon sa talong. Tsaka pinamimigay ang mangga kesa mabulok,” he said a day after Duterte delivered his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA).

Aquino said Duterte’s warning in his SONA to abolish the Landbank of the Philippines will be for naught if the government fails to solve the problems plaguing the agriculture sector.

The former President said it was important for the government to help farmers sell their products so they can earn money and have enough capital for farming.

“Maski yung Landbank handang tumulong, hindi mo ina-address yung kasalukuyang nangyayari, baka naman nandiyan yung pagkalinga na wala na yung kakalingain,” Aquino said.

Duterte threatened to abolish Landbank unless it submits a viable plan to help farmers within the month.
