Sara Duterte to Pray for Guidance on Possible Presidential Bid πŸ‘ŠπŸΎπŸ‡΅πŸ‡

President Rodrigo Duterte’s daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, said she will ask for divine guidance on whether or not to run for president in the 2022 general elections.

“Everything will be easier if it’s the plan of God. I think siguro [maybe] before I think about that, I should ask God first if this is for me,” Duterte-Carpio said Friday during her appearance on the TV show of his father’s longtime friend, Kingdom of Jesus Christ founder Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.

Duterte-Carpio added, “Siguro para hindi tayo magkamali [Maybe, so that we don’t make a mistake,] we need to pray for wisdom on how to go about it and how to decide.”

Continuing the President’s narrative that the presidency is destined by God, Quiboloy said Duterte-Carpio is also “chosen” for the top post in the country.

Quiboloy also revealed that he and Duterte-Carpio have talked about the presidency, but refused to give further details.

In closing the show with a prayer, Quiboloy hinted of “drastic changes” in Duterte-Carpio’s life “for the good.”

“For the next one that God in heaven will choose for us, ipanalangin natin na siya ang magbibigay ng guidance sa atin [let us pray for that he or she would give us guidance.] We will always pray for Mayor Inday here because I know God has bigger plans for her,” he said.

Duterte-Carpio admitted during the show that she has made friends with many local officials during the nationwide campaign of her regional party, Hugpong ng Pagbabago, for the midterm polls.

She, however, denied that she has any influence over local politics and in the House of Representatives, adding that she just has many friends.

Duterte-Carpio was among key political figures congressmen turned to in the run-up to the election of House Speaker. She also had a hand in the ouster of Davao del Norte 1st District Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez as Speaker.

Despite her local position, her endorsement has also been sought by party-lists and senatorial candidates.

The President has also said he has discouraged Duterte-Carpio from running for president.

University of the Philippines political science professor Jean Franco previously told CNN Philippines that Duterte-Carpio’s potential presidential bid is keeping the administration coalition from breaking up.
